Powerful!
A young female farmer on TikTok said her entire family regrets supporting President Donald Trump and clearly articulated why.
She owned a farm in Ohio which was funded by the Inflation Reduction Act implemented by former President Joe Biden. However, one of Trump’s executive orders rolled back that legislation and this woman and her husband can no longer afford their farm.
The woman also says something very insightful… “I shouldn’t have been just voting for myself. Trump’s policies and EOs are hurting millions of people. It took affecting me personally to understand what I had done was wrong…”
The Trump administration has implemented a freeze on federal payments for grants and other programs, including those from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This has led to 1) halted payments from USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service grants, 2) suspension of funding for climate-related programs and resources that farmers rely on for adaptation, and 3) delayed or canceled payments for grants tied to the Inflation Reduction Act.
Many farmers who made investments based on expected USDA funding are now facing financial difficulties.
