Former elite-level political consultant James Carville told Mediaite that the Trump administration would “collapse” within 30 days and advised Democrats to sit back and let it happen.
Said Carville: “What I have said very publicly is that Democrats need to play possum. This whole thing is collapsing….”
“I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days is in the midst of a massive collapse and particularly a collapse in public opinion.”
“It’s going to be easy pickings here in six weeks. Just lay back.”
Carville asserts that the administration is already experiencing a significant decline in public opinion. He cites polling data suggesting Trump’s approval rating has dropped from the low 50s to the upper 30s, though these specific figures could not be independently verified. However, recent Reuters/Ipsos polling shows a smaller decrease, with Trump’s approval rating moving from 47% to 44% since taking office in January.
Trump has responded to Carville’s claims, dismissing them and asserting that he has the “strongest polling numbers” he has ever recorded. The situation remains fluid, and only time will tell if Carville’s prediction comes to fruition.
Opinion: While the Trump Administration won’t literally collapse, look for the president’s approval ratings to dip into the 30s by the summer and remain below 45% throughout the rest of his term.
