Approval: Trump already underwater in Texas?

According to UT Tyler via Political Polls, President Donald Trump’s approval rating in Texas is just 44 percent while his disapproval score surged to 53.

Some insist the poll can’t possibly be accurate but the numbers aren’t outside the realm of possibility. When you consider the increase in grocery prices since Trump took office, it’s definitely believable because inflation is the primary reason Trump was elected. And when the rash dismantling of the government, changes in the stock market, and impending tariffs are added as public concerns, 44 percent is quite formidable.

If the economy is in tatters in 2028, look for Texas to be a swing state; that’s also not outside the realm of possibility.

In 2024, Trump defeated Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris by over 13 percentage points in the Lone Star state but carried Texas by just 5 four years prior against Joe Biden.
